The Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission (SMADC), a division of the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland, is supporting farms and the future of agriculture in our region through farmland preservation, extensive support for regional farmers, and resources to help consumers find the farms they need.
SMADC supports sustainable local agriculture through outreach, education, tourism, and marketing. Key to SMADC’s efforts is marylandfarmlink.com, a clearinghouse of information and an online community for Southern Maryland farmers and related businesses.
Launched over a decade ago, the SMADC Farmlink website had become outdated and difficult to maintain. Members could not easily log in and the property and equipment exchanges were seeing very little use. The organization recognized the need to
DatAchieve Digital provided SMADC with an attractive new website that helped the organization better support its membership and promote sustainable agriculture in the state. The new website includes public and private forums, farm property listings, and agricultural job listings.
Maryland Farm Link is a state-funded initiative connecting farmers and agricultural professionals with industry resources including news, property and equipment sales, job opportunities, and events. The website includes a private login area where members access agricultural exchanges and forums, workshops, and mentoring programs.
