The Backstage LoungeA Neighborhood Speakeasy with a Velvet Rope Vibe

BackStage Lounge is a moody, modern take on the classic speakeasy—tucked behind SouthBound in Charlotte’s South End. Guests enter through a mural-lined hallway, whisper a weekly password through a vintage phone booth, and step into a romantically lit space that feels part cocktail bar, part secret society. It’s intimate. It’s unexpected. And it needed a website that matched the vibe. DatAchieve was asked to build a site that felt just as rich and immersive as the physical space—dark, stylish, and slightly mysterious—while keeping menus and event info just a click away.

Part of the Mac’s Hospitality Group, this project is one of several we’ve completed for their family of Charlotte venues—including Mac’s Speed Shop, Eat South Bound, The Music Yard, and The BackStage Lounge.

What They Needed

BackStage Lounge needed a digital front door as polished and intriguing as the one behind the grooming lounge hallway:

  • A sleek, moody design to reflect the ambiance of the speakeasy
  • Easy-to-update food and cocktail menus
  • Event listings with seasonal promotions and limited-entry experiences
  • Mobile-friendly access to menus and weekly password info
  • Subtle integration with social media without disrupting the tone
  • Platform alignment with the other Mac’s Hospitality Group venues

What We Delivered

We built an immersive digital experience that mirrors the Lounge’s in-person mystique and sophistication.

  • Dark, Romantic Design: Rich color palette, refined typography, and large-format imagery
  • Menu Management: Custom tools for showcasing seasonal food and cocktail updates
  • Event Listings: Flexible layout for highlighting special events, pop-ups, and private bookings
  • Secret Entry Support: Content sections to support weekly password drops and subtle exclusivity cues
  • Instagram Integration: Moderated visual feed that adds atmosphere without distraction
  • Unified Platform: Hosted and maintained alongside Eat South Bound, The Music Yard, and Mac’s Speed Shop

The BackStage Lounge site is minimal but immersive—exactly like the venue itself. It keeps the mystery intact while offering just enough to entice guests to visit, reserve, or explore.
