One of the most dramatic adjustment in the way Google ranks websites was recently introduced. Should you be worried? Only if you rely on customers finding you through a web search.
On April 21st Google introduced its new search algorithm, dubbed “Mobilegeddon.” While Google has taken mobile-accessibility into account when determining site’s position for some time, this update will affect mobile search ranking more dramatically than any of Google’s previous updates.
What can you do to prepare?
- Make sure that you have a mobile-optimized website in place for your business. A responsive-design is best, ensuring a fluid experience across all devices.
- View your site on your phone. Does it load quickly? Can you easily read the content and navigate to other pages?
- Run Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test to make sure site meets the basic requirements.
The upcoming mobile-friendly algorithm will impact more sites than their Panda or Penguin algorithms.
