Horizon Goodwill Industries (HGI) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) serving 17 counties in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia, operating 18 retail stores, four processing centers, and overseeing multiple onsite contracts. The organization needed a quality website that would accurately represent its mission, provide administrative tools for a team spread over a wide geographic area, and help to efficiently deliver its many services to clients.
The previous HGI website was not mobile-friendly, the design was becoming dated, and users often found it difficult to find information about the organization’s services.
Horizon Goodwill needed a more easily managed website that would enable HGI staff to quickly make content changes. Horizon also wished to better leverage the website with deeper social media integration, sharing, and publishing tools. The growing organization also needed the ability to create and manage individual store location sites across its four-state network of stores.
DatAchieve Digital provided Horizon Goodwill Industries with an updated, mobile-responsive design, with an intuitive navigation and user interface. Important services were pushed forward with clear calls-to-action, and information was visually organized and prioritized to avoid overwhelming site visitors. Built on the WordPress platform, the new horizongoodwill.org website includes complete content management, social media integrations, a responsive layout, and a multi-site network that enables Horizon to quickly launch and manage new sites for its numerous locations. The site also includes private administrative sections where staff can share information.
Goodwill Industries has always offered a wide variety of services, including job training, career assistance, business services, and shopping. Well known for its retail outlets, Horizon Goodwill Industries offers locations throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. The organization relies on donations and sales to support its mission of creating opportunities and helping people reach their potential through work. The COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on Goodwill's retail locations. DatAchieve updated the site that we originally developed to include more prominent calls to action for donations and online shopping.
