With eight locations across North and South Carolina, Mac’s Speed Shop isn’t just another barbecue joint — it’s a destination. Known for award-winning barbecue, an extensive craft beer selection, and a lively atmosphere, Mac’s has built a loyal following and strong reputation in a competitive restaurant market. But like many growing restaurant brands, they needed more than great food to fuel their growth. They needed a website that could handle the demands of a multi-location restaurant, support online ordering, promote events and specials, and engage both loyal fans and first-time guests.

Part of the Mac’s Hospitality Group, this project is one of several we’ve completed for their family of Charlotte venues—including Mac’s Speed Shop, Eat South Bound, The Music Yard, and The BackStage Lounge.

What They Needed

Mac’s existing website was slowing them down — literally. Built on an outdated theme and bogged down with over 50 plugins, the site suffered from performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and plugin conflicts. Managing content updates was cumbersome for the marketing team, making it hard to promote specials, events, or menu changes in real time. With expansion on the horizon, Mac’s Speed Shop needed a reliable web partner to streamline their online presence, improve site speed, boost security, and drive customer engagement.

Client Solution

We overhauled Mac’s website with a custom, mobile-friendly design that makes it easy for customers to find locations, view menus, place online orders, and check out upcoming events. By reducing unnecessary plugins and cleaning up outdated code, we delivered a faster, more secure site optimized for both visitors and staff. We also integrated social media tools to encourage sharing of specials and events — extending Mac’s reach beyond the website and into customers’ feeds.

Today, Mac’s Speed Shop has a high-performing website that supports local store marketing, enhances their multi-location brand, and helps drive traffic and sales — both in-store and online.
